Christmas at the museum

Enjoy the best of Swedish Christmas at Nordiska museet. Check out the Christmas tree, play board games or try some seasonal Swedish foods and treats in the museum restaurant.

Daily for the whole family

  • Celebrate a historic christmas in the Children's Playhouse. For ages 3–10. 20 kr for all children (From 1st of january 40 kr).
  • Become a Time detective and solv the mystery with the lost marsipanfigurine. Get your map at the reception. For ages 4–10.
  • Relax with seasonal Swedish foods and “fika” in our restaurant.

Christmas Eve 24 December

Meet Santa Claus and join the farandole in the great hall.

Pianist Jonny will play Christmas music on the grand piano and in front of the Christmas tree you can relax with some books and board games.

The restaurant serves Swedish Christmas food and coffee. In front of the Gustav Vasa statue, Santa Claus wishes everyone a merry Christmas.

Only 20 sek admission on Christmas eve

Admission: 20 kr for adults, free for children. 


New Year's Eve 31 December

Join our Viennese dance class, make your own new year’s hat, play board games, celebrate Christmas as they did in the 19th century in the Children's Playhouse - or enjoy some seasonal Swedish foods in the museum restaurant.

Knut's party (Julgransplundring) 13 January

End the Christmas season with singing, playing and dancing around the beautifully decorated tree with us.

A typical Swedish tradition called Julgransplundring. When your legs are tired you can visit the Children's Playhouse or take a break in our restaurant. A bag of candy for all children!
