Introduction to Nordiska museet

En palatslik byggnad med tinnar och torn sedd uppfrån med vatten, grönska och Stockholm runtom

Weekdays from 15 June– 14 August at 11.00, 14.00 and 15.00

How did a hand-woven woollen skirt from Dalarna become the start to an entire museum? And what was this building originally? You’ll find the answers in our short introductory tour of the museum’s history and architecture.

We will tell you about Sofi and Artur Hazelius and how the first item they acquired grew into a collection of 1.5 million objects, even more photographs and thousands of stories.

Of course, a collection of this kind needs a home. So yoy will also hear the story of the museum building on Djurgården. Welcome to the Nordic Museum!
